How to conduct an assessment
Before your first assessment, you will need to register by creating a personal password that you will use later to log in again and retrieve your data. This registration gives you access to a private space where you can store your projects confidentially.
The contributions to the SDG targets of a ‘project’, i.e. an educational action, strategy or policy, are assessed in the following way :
If you wish to retrieve a project you have already created from your database, the My Projects command in the top menu bar will take you there.
After a Project is created, a Project Information page will ask you for details that will be useful for framing your assessment.
I. Select a relevant Theme
Not all Themes will be relevant to your project, but all are possibilities to consider. Select a Theme that you feel is relevant to the project being assessed.
II. Select a relevant Topic in the list of Topics of this Theme
Select a Topic from those proposed for which one of these two situations is close to the outcome of the Project (action, strategy or policy). You then consider this Topic as relevant for the evaluation of the Project.
III. Assess this relevant Topic
-
Click anywhere on the Topic line or on the small arrow on the right .Several options and questions will appear below:
- if several options are offered, only tick those that are relevant;
- then answer the three questions by selecting the most relevant option from the lists of choices that appear
- explain and justify your answers in the "Description/Justification by the evaluator" box (only Topics for which a justification is recorded can be assessed). These explanations will appear in the final evaluation report.
- Click on the Save button in the top right-hand corner.
Repeat these three steps to evaluate each Topic that is relevant to your case
It is advisable to visit all the Topics listed on the Theme pages for which you have evaluated a Topic. However, it is not necessary to explore Themes that do not seem relevant.
Theme X – Additional topics
By clicking on Results by SDG or Results by theme in the second top toolbar on any page dedicated to a Theme, you can access the results of the assessment SDG target by SDG target. Depending on the option chosen, you can view the results:
- sorted by SDG or by Theme;
- in simplified graphical form or in detailed text.
By clicking on Download PDF report on a results page, the application downloads a detailed assessment report to your computer (to be found in your Downloads folder). This report includes the project description, the evaluator's identity, simplified graphical results and the detailed impact on each SDG target. The evaluator is, of course, free to share this assessment with others or to revisit it if something has been forgotten.
More detailed information on how this application works can be accessed through the command Methodology in the top toolbar.
In particular, the concepts of this methodology are detailed in the Terminology/Glossary chapter of the detailed methodological note.
